The Boston Celtics may have unknowingly created one of the most viral NBA memes of all time with Paul George.
Following an underwhelming spell with the Philadelphia 76ers, veteran star Paul George found himself on the trade block during the offseason as he was sent to the Boston Celtics.
While George is ready to become the Robin to Jayson Tatum’s Batman, many doubt that the 36-year-old is capable of pulling that off.
Now, to make things worse, the Celtics’ recent post on X has only given NBA fans more reason to take jabs at George ahead of Year 17.
NBA fans compare Paul George’s Year 17 photoshoot to viral Shaquille O’Neal meme
NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal had a phenomenal career, during which he won four NBA Championships and numerous other accolades.
However, O’Neal spending the final year of his career with the Celtics has become a rather popular meme in the NBA community. Now, NBA fans see something similar in George’s latest pose with the team.
“Why would you make him do this pose specifically???” a fan asked. While another added, referencing the viral O’Neal meme, “You can rest now.”
“You guys could’ve had him do any other pose?” a third fan stated. “Thank you, Brad Stevens, for trading our FMVP for a washed player,” a fourth fan wrote sarcastically.
“Not the Shaq pose,” another fan wrote in disbelief.
While there’s no guarantee that George will fail in Boston, fans think capturing him in the Shaq pose is certainly a bad omen.
