Nate Diaz still has faith in a Conor McGregor trilogy bout.
Diaz and McGregor have one of the most iconic rivalries in the sport. Two entertainers from completely different worlds. One, a showman who captures the heart of the casuals and delivers undeniable performances that make him an asset to the UFC. The other, a true American gangster from Stockton, California, whose raw, unapologetic personality resonates with many fans. When they collided in the octagon, the whole world stood still to watch. Two of the top six UFC pay-per-views in history, but is there room for a third fight a decade after their last? Diaz thinks so.
Nate Diaz has enjoyed some well-deserved paydays away from the UFC. Departing in 2022, Diaz went on to fight twice in boxing and was a major player in Most Valuable Promotions’ first venture into MMA.
Conor McGregor hasn’t had as much success. His triumphant return after five years on the sidelines ended in seconds after a self-inflicted injury. Despite their rivalry, Diaz wasn’t pleased to see McGregor’s crisis.
“Conor is a f***er. But Conor is a fighter,” Diaz said. “He’s someone you want to see.”
Diaz still intends to return to the UFC. Should he follow through with his plan, he hopes to reignite his decade-long feud with McGregor, leading to an eventual trilogy.
“I’m not trying to kill him off. I’m not trying to be killed off by a guy trying to make a comeback. I’m trying to fight a big fight to move up in the fight program,” Diaz continued. “I feel bad for him; I hope he does good. Positive vibes for the comeback. I’ll start whooping ass and doing good. And then I’m going to whoop his ass.”
