The seventh-year MLS club remain clear favorites to lift their first Supporters’ Shield trophy in club history, holding a massive 10-point lead over Vancouver Whitecaps FC atop the league table.

But the Coyotes have even more history in their sights before beginning their quest for a first MLS Cup presented by Audi title. That’s because Nashville are on pace to break Inter Miami CF‘s single-season MLS points record of 74, set in 2024.

On track to reach 75 points as it stands, the Music City men will require 15 points from their final seven matches to set the record, or an average of 2.14 points per game. Put simply, they’ll need to win five of their final seven matches, or win four and draw the other three.

Challenging? No doubt. Within reach? Absolutely.

Through 27 matches, the Coyotes have already averaged a staggering 2.22 points per game, meaning that maintaining their season-long form through the final seven matches will leave them on 75 points and etch Nashville’s name in the MLS history books.

Riding a three-game unbeaten streak with just one loss in their last 10 games, Nashville have a chance to secure the Supporters’ Shield crown as early as Wednesday at home against Sporting Kansas City.

After lifting their first trophy in club history as US Open Cup champions last year, the Coyotes are on the cusp of back-to-back seasons with silverware.

Unsurprisingly, Nashville are also among the favorites to claim their first MLS Cup title, but will face a challenging path through the Eastern Conference as they aim to become the first Supporters’ Shield-MLS Cup double winners since LAFC in 2022.

The club’s best-ever postseason finish came in 2020 and 2021 when they reached the Conference Semifinals.

Nashville boast arguably the league’s strongest Designated Player trio, which has combined for 55 goal contributions.

Star striker Sam Surridge (16g/2a) is among the league’s top five scorers this season; former Landon Donovan MLS MVP Hany Mukhtar (13g/7a) is the club’s leading goal contributor; and blockbuster offseason signing Cristian Espinoza (4g/13a) has added a crucial creative flair.

Nashville have also conceded the fewest goals in MLS this season (21), with defender Andy Nájar and newly capped USMNT goalkeeper Brian Schwake joining Mukhtar and Surridge as 2026 MLS All-Stars.

The squad is led by former USMNT assistant manager BJ Callaghan, undoubtedly a candidate for MLS Coach of the Year, and is primed to lift at least two trophies in his first two full seasons at the helm.
