Napoli contacts Gabriel Jesus as Arsenal sets €20m price

Napoli has contacted Gabriel Jesus’s representatives as it considers a move for the Arsenal striker, according to ge.globo.

Jesus is receptive to the possibility of joining the Italian club, while Arsenal is prepared to discuss his departure for offers starting at €20 million. Napoli’s interest is described as strong, but talks between the clubs have yet to reach an advanced stage.

The approach moves the story beyond the wider Serie A interest reported earlier in the summer. AC Milan and Juventus had also considered signing Jesus, though neither club submitted an offer that convinced Arsenal to proceed.

Jesus previously wanted to complete the final year of his Arsenal contract. He was close to obtaining British citizenship and also hoped to overtake Roberto Firmino as the highest-scoring Brazilian in Premier League history.

Napoli’s interest has given him another option. Jesus still has a strong connection with Arsenal, but his need for regular playing time could influence his decision. The 29-year-old appeared in 27 matches last season and started only nine of them.

His position in Mikel Arteta’s attack has become more difficult following the arrival of Viktor Gyokeres. Kai Havertz can also play through the middle, leaving Jesus without a clear route to regular starts.

Jesus returned to action in December 2025 after spending around 10 months recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament. He showed that he could still contribute by scoring twice against Inter Milan in the Champions League, but his minutes remained limited during the second half of the campaign.

The Brazilian joined Arsenal from Manchester City in July 2022. He has since recorded 32 goals and 18 assists in 123 appearances, while helping the club win the Premier League title during the 2025/26 season.

His contract runs until June 2027. Arsenal can still demand a transfer fee this summer, though the approaching end of his deal explains why the club has reduced its expectations from the £30 million figure mentioned earlier in the year.

Napoli would offer Jesus a chance to compete for a starting position in Serie A and continue playing in Europe. His experience across the front line could also give the Italian club another option alongside its existing central forwards.

Status: Napoli has contacted Jesus’s representatives, and the striker is receptive to the move. Arsenal wants at least €20 million, but Napoli has not submitted a confirmed bid and there is no agreement between the clubs.
