BENIN CITY, NIGERIA – The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has released the results of the 2026 June/July National Business Certificate (NBC) and National Technical Certificate (NTC) examinations, recording a significant improvement in overall student performance.
At a news conference on Wednesday in Benin City, the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB, Dr Aminu Mohammed, said 79,503 candidates, representing 81.24 per cent of the total sitting cohort, obtained five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics.
Speaking on the broader implications of the examination outcomes, Dr Mohammed emphasised that the rise in candidate registration reflects expanding public interest in <a href=" and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) across Nigeria.
He noted that the certification of skilled craftsmen remains vital to addressing the national skilled labour deficit and promoting occupational competence among Nigerian youths.
“The improvement recorded in the 2026 examination is encouraging and demonstrates the collective effort of candidates, teachers, schools, parents and the wider education system. These statistics provide useful indicators of performance; however, beyond the percentages lies the more important question of what these qualifications mean for the future of our young people and for Nigeria’s economic development.”
