OVERTON, Texas (KETK) — For the past three seasons, Overton head coach Scotty Laymance and the Mustangs have been laying the foundation for excellence, competing at the top of their district, and last season, making it to the third round of the playoffs, before falling to district rival and state semifinalist Mount Enterprise.
Expect Overton to continue to pound the football up the middle, with Justin Weir returning at running back, and plenty of size and experience clearing the way on the offensive LINE.
Coach Laymance says the Mustangs understand; they’ve earned the preseason hype and are excited to show everyone they were right, to have confidence in this program.
Overton will open the season one day early, as they travel to face off against the Harleton Wildcats.
Kickoff will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27th, at Wildcat Field.
