The general feeling behind the scenes at Manchester United is that Luke Shaw will be leaving when his contract expires in June 2027.
According to TeamTALK, the club have not ruled out offering Shaw an extension, but it would only be on a short-term basis – presumably akin to the one-year deal, plus a 12-month option, that Harry Maguire signed before 2026/2027 began.

Alas, the 31-year-old is seemingly planning for pastures new.
He is currently United’s longest-serving player following his £30 million move from Southampton in 2014, yet, remarkably, he only hit the milestone of 300 Premier League appearances last time out against Fulham.
Shaw’s unrelenting injury problems have plagued his Red Devils career and, while it’s no fault of his own, it has made him far too unreliable to depend upon.
Even this campaign, where he is the only out-and-out senior left-back in the side, he has missed three games already due to an unspecified fitness problem.
To put it into perspective, Shaw has accumulated 329 appearances for United across all competitions over the last 12 years. Bruno Fernandes, who joined in January 2020, has amassed 334.
Who will United bring in to succeed Shaw?
It’s said that United have identified a feasible replacement for Shaw ahead of his release in the form of Tyrick Mitchell.
The Crystal Palace star, 27, is also out of contract at the end of the season, so INEOS will undoubtedly be enticed by the fact they won’t have to pay anything to bring in the Premier League-proven defender.
Mitchell himself would reportedly ‘find it hard’ to decline an offer from United, though he is also being targeted by Liverpool, who may make a more lucrative financial proposal.
