Mourinho willing to part ways with 26-year-old Real Madrid star to fund key defensive signing

Real Madrid recently announced Jose Mourinho as their new manager, with the legendary figure tasked with resurrecting Los Blancos’ stature after a couple of indifferent seasons.

Mourinho is a charismatic figure who will undoubtedly come in with his own set of ideas, and this could see some important players leave and others join the club.

Brahim Diaz is one such player who is valued by Madrid, but his future may not be quite as untouchable as one might assume.

While the Moroccan international continues to be viewed as an important squad player by the club, Mourinho would be willing to consider his departure if it helped finance one of Real Madrid’s major transfer objectives.

According to Latigo Serrano on his YouTube channel, Mourinho’s stance appears slightly different from that of Madrid.

The club value his versatility, depth and quality across multiple positions, but the new Real Madrid manager is not completely opposed to selling Brahim if a substantial offer arrives.

Mourinho focused on bigger priorities

Real Madrid are exploring major defensive additions this summer, with Josko Gvardiol among the names heavily admired within the club.

Any deal for the Croatian defender would likely require a huge financial commitment. As a result, Mourinho is reportedly open to sacrificing certain squad players.

Brahim has never been an undisputed starter during his time at Madrid. He has had an important role to play through the course of a season, though.

With the likes of Arda Guler and Franco Mastantuono also in the squad, there are players to cover for Brahim should he leave this summer.

This is where Real Madrid face a challenge.

By selling Brahim, they would be losing a proven player with the ability to impact games from the bench, operate across the frontline and maintain squad depth.

That said, Real Madrid have always been willing to make difficult decisions when elite market opportunities emerge.

If an offer in the region of €60 million to €80 million were to arrive, and if that money significantly increased the chances of signing a player such as Gvardiol, the conversation could quickly change.

For now, Brahim remains part of Real Madrid’s plans. However, under Mourinho, things can change overnight, and it remains to be seen what the next couple of months hold for the Moroccan playmaker.
