Minnesota Timberwolves Under Pressure to Give Anthony Edwards a Co-Star, Per Insider

· · 2 min read

Brian Windhorst recently claimed that Anthony Edwards is not fully satisfied with the Minnesota Timberwolves roster, especially after they were eliminated in the second round following two consecutive Western Conference Finals appearances.

According to the ESPN analyst, Edwards has been pressuring the front office to upgrade their roster, as he wants a co-star that would alleviate his massive workload. He is coming off yet another productive campaign, averaging 28.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.4 steals on 48.9 percent shooting from the field in 61 regular-season appearances.

“Going forward, after this series, the Minnesota Timberwolves’ future is in question somewhat because of what Ant feels about the roster,” Windhorst reported. “And I wonder, if KAT was still there, he didn’t.”

To Windhorst’s point, one could argue that the Minnesota Timberwolves were in a better spot before trading Karl-Anthony Towns away to the New York Knicks, as Julius Randle hasn’t been great in the postseason.

Minnesota Timberwolves News: Chris Finch has high expectations for the front office this offseason

Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch said he fully expects Tim Connelly and co. to be quite active in the trade market this offseason.

“Tim and his crew will always do a great job of canvassing the league in the run-up to the draft,” Finch said on KFAN. “Tim’s the best I’ve ever seen at understanding what everybody’s trying to do in the market, whether it be trade, trade deadline, draft, free agency, etc. And, you know, he’s got incredible support by our new ownership.”

“I do expect us to be (active). I don’t know what the end result will be, if there will be a lot of change. I mean, we love our core, and we know we need to keep adding to it a little bit. I have the utmost faith in Tim and his crew and Marc and Alex to be able to do it,” he added.
