Mike Vrabel sends message to Drake Maye after three-interception game

New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel sent a message to quarterback Drake Maye after his three-interception game against the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday night.

The third-year quarterback struggled against the stifling Seahawks defense, recording 170 passing yards, one touchdown and three interceptions in the 13-10 loss at Lumen Field. It was a complete meltdown performance in the second half that felt reminiscent of the Super Bowl LX loss.

With that said, it’s still a long season, and this was only the first game of the year. There’s plenty of time for Maye to turn it around and help get the team back on track.

“It’s a long season,” Vrabel said, via PatriotsWire’s Sophie Weller. “Gotta hold your head up high. We have nothing but the utmost confidence in him.”

Maye might have to figure things out without his top receiving target, A.J. Brown, who went down with an ankle injury in the third quarter of the game. He is believed to have suffered a high ankle sprain, and an MRI should give the team a clearer understanding for how long he might potentially be sidelined.

As for the short term, it’ll be the next man up at wide receiver for the Patriots.
