Michigan State safeties coach raves about incoming transfer

Michigan State football added Maine safety transfer Devin Vaught to the roster this past offseason and in 2026, he is expected to be a major contributor to the Spartan defense. Vaught is set to be slated as one of the two starting safeties when the Spartans open against Toledo.

Vaught has two seasons of eligibility remaining after he played in 26 games over the past three seasons for the Black Bears. He has recorded 107 tackles, including 2.5 TFLs, and has six career interceptions to go along with nine career pass break-ups.

During his media session, safeties coach James Adams raved about the incoming transfer. Adams mentioned how he is taking in the new defense and learning what he needs to do to be successful in 2026.
