MINNEAPOLIS ― The Miami Dolphins are 0-4, which is not a surprise, really.
They’ve faced three teams ― 49ers, Chiefs, Vikings ― with a combined record of 12-0.
Miami fell to Minnesota, 15-10, in a sloppy contest that aspiring defensive coordinators may have enjoyed.
Ollie Gordon II, Zach Sieler, Chop Robinson and Jason Marshall played well.
On to Cincinnati, as one coach with a lot of wins once said.
Miami isn’t making the playoffs. They’re headed for a Top 5 pick.
But it’s always a good time for an overreaction Monday, anyway…
is not the answer
Overreaction? Yes. Willis is ranked near the bottom of the league in passer rating, completions and yards. It has not been good enough. Willis, it would appear, is passing up some open receivers in a effort to drive the ball down the field. Coaches will surely encourage him to take some higher-percentage options. When it’s good, it’s eye-opening. Willis escaping the pocket and finding Chris Bell for a 68-yard score would have been Sportscenter-worthy, if not for a negating penalty. Reasons for concern, but plenty of time here.

Overreaction? Yes. Ollie Gordon had a good game. Jaylen Wright did not. It’s one game. There is of course reason for optimism as it relates to Gordon. But there is zero chance the Dolphins are going to bury Wright one game after De’Von Achane went down with a season-ending injury. Gordon showed some burst on a long run. Wright has the physical talents required here. He will need to keep his head in the game.
Overreaction? No. Zach Sieler had two sacks. Sieler is still a good player. Miami should look to trade him to a contender before the November 10 deadline. A contender should look to acquire Sieler before the Nov. 10 deadline. Sieler has been a very good Dolphin. He deserves the chance to finish his career with a contender. Did I mention Nov. 10? Jon-Eric Sullivan will have his phone charged, and will listen to calls on anyone and everyone.
Overreaction? No. Marshall has done a nice job this season, in a bit of under-the-radar fashion. Marshall helped limit Vikings receiver Jordan Addison. He’s clearly more comfortable playing on the outside. And he is growing. He has a knack of sticking within play-making range of receivers, and thus, limiting the times he is targeted. According to Pro Football Reference, Marshall has been targeted only 10 times in four games.
Overreaction? Yes. As you saw on Sunday, Miami is capable of winning a game or two or three this season. It will happen at some point. It’s just a matter of when. This team lacks talent and experience. But it does not lack effort. Any NFL team that continues to try is sure to avoid an 0-17 season, in our humble opinion. After all, how many times have teams gone undefeated? Hmm? Almost impossible.
