Mexico World Cup live weather updates: Game vs Ecuador delayed due to lightning
Mexico and Ecuador’s World Cup match on Tuesday in Mexico City is delayed after lightning in the area.
The match was scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. ET at the Estadio Azteca, but the delay was made official about an hour before kickoff.
It was immediately unclear how long the delay would last, but officials will need to wait for the thunderstorms and lightning strikes to pass.
Earlier in the World Cup, the France-Iraq game in Philadelphia had a two-hour delay during halftime due to lightning and torrential downpour.
The kickoff time for Mexico vs Ecuador will be impacted due to weather in Mexico City.
