When it comes to the stealth sub-genre of gaming, we owe a lot of recent hit entries to the Hideo Kojima and the Metal Gear franchise. With next year celebrating the 40th anniversary of the very first entry in the series, Metal Gear Solid, it is no wonder that fans are excited to see what is announced over the next few months. However, with Kojima leaving Konami back in 2015 after the launch of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, it is no wonder that fans are hesitant about what the future may entail for the beloved stealth adventure series.
At the time of writing, Konami has not announced the next original Metal Gear Solid game, but fans of the story so far can look forward to an upcoming release that arrives in April 2027.
Courtesy of Forbidden Planet and manufacturer Kaiyodo, fans of Naked Snake, more specifically his appearance in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, can now celebrate him in style thanks to a stunning new collectible.
By contrast, MGS Delta appears to acknowledge that the original MGS3 is a masterpiece, one of the finest achievements in video game history, and a significant evolutionary step forward in the stealth genre. It captures the essence of the original to a T, but fails to expand on it.
As though they were restoring a painting, the remake’s developers almost seem afraid to damage it, as if to alter anything beneath its most superficial aspects would take something away from the original. The result makes Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater a gorgeous, even impressive, new version of MGS3 for the modern gamer, but ultimately an unnecessary imitation of a timeless classic.
Now, the Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater: Revoltech Amazing Yamaguchi Action is available for pre-order over on Forbidden Planet, and at £149.99, it is quite the investment. That being said, it is clear to see the amount of detail that has gone into the iconic action figure, and if you pre-order now, you will get your hands on it as early as April 2027.
“Naked Snake, the protagonist of “Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater” and later known as the legendary mercenary “Big Boss,” joins the Amazing Yamaguchi series!” The item description reads. “He is sculpted in the latest sneaking suit he acquired during his infiltration missions. The entire body is articulated to express his stealth action. He can realistically hold his included firearms and knife, and even assume a prone position. His rugged face with a scruffy beard features a built-in movable eyeball gimmick.”
Not only will you get the stunning figure, but the Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater: Revoltech Amazing Yamaguchi Action also arrives alongside a hidden map found on the cardboard box, which includes the iconic “!” mark upon enemy’s heads, and the Kerotan.
So, if you want to celebrate your love of the Metal Gear Solid franchise ahead of its 40th anniversary, look no further than the Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater: Revoltech Amazing Yamaguchi Action, available for pre-order now.
