Massive new sports complex in Tennessee to include a new golf course, driving range

The Nashville Predators, Tennessee Titans and Nashville Soccer Club have partnered to build a massive sports-focused development in Franklin, according to a June 23 news release from the lead developer.

Brentwood, Tennessee-based BLVD Capital has proposed plans to build a hockey facility, football, soccer and lacrosse fields, a golf course and driving range at Brownland Farm. The 233-acre property is currently an equestrian facility.

The project, to be named The Banks at Brownland, would also include a partnership with Christ Community Church to provide a permanent facility for GraceWorks Ministries, a faith-based nonprofit organization serving Williamson County.

“Brownland Farm is a Franklin treasure, and we are pleased to bring forward a potential plan that would allow the property to be used for youth sports and fill a void for these types of facilities in Williamson County,” BLVD Capital Principal Jim Darter said in a news release.

According to the development team, the owners of Brownland are partners on the project and are working to relocate their equestrian facility offsite. Other partners include Landon Gibbs of Altitude Real Estate and David Atchison of The Riverstone Group.

A 100,000-square-foot hockey facility with two sheets of ice is planned for the mixed-use development. Similar to facilities in Antioch, Bellevue and across Middle Tennessee, the property would be managed by the Nashville Predators. The Williamson County Commission and Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen will discuss the proposal at a joint meeting on June 29.

“We’ve been close a few times in a few areas, and something always happens and it falls through,” Predators CEO Sean Henry said of building a hockey facility in Williamson County.

He said the Predators are working on some designs now but added it will be similar to ice rinks the team has in Antioch and Bellevue.

He added that a new ice center there should help revive youth hockey in the area.

“I think it’s really important for kids to have more activity in that area,” Henry said. “I’m really thankful that both mayors [Franklin’s Ken Moore and Williamson County’s Rogers Anderson] see building an ice rink as a driving force to overall development, and the developer himself recognizes that this could be a really special project because of the ice rink. This has a chance to be something really, really special for the heart of Williamson County.”

Plans also call for 11 fields to be used for flag football, soccer and lacrosse. Youth programming for soccer and football will be managed by the Tennessee Titans and Nashville Soccer Club.

“Access to quality fields and facilities is foundational to growing the game and the next generation of athletes,” said Josh Corey, vice president of cause marketing for the Tennessee Titans. “Partnerships like this are how we make sure young athletes have the fields and facilities they need to play.”

The development will also include retail, which could include restaurants, a grocery store, fitness, medical offices and more. A construction start is planned for sometime next year.
