The Washington Commanders had a disappointing update regarding offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil.
On Saturday, NFL insider Mike Garafolo reported that the five-time Pro Bowler suffered a torn triceps during practice. Thus, Tunsil is expected to miss most of the upcoming season while rehabilitating from his injury.
“Source to me and @wyche89: #Commanders five-time Pro Bowl LT Laremy Tunsil suffered a torn triceps in practice today during 1-on-1 pass-rush drills,” Garafolo tweeted. “He’ll likely require surgery and will miss at least a significant portion of the regular season.”

A torn triceps injury usually requires four to six months to recover. In some cases, it may take as long as up to one year. Thus, there is a possibility that Laremy Tunsil misses the entire 2026 campaign.
Taking a look at Laremy Tunsil’s NFL career
Laremy Tunsil spent his collegiate career with the Ole Miss Rebels. The Miami Dolphins drafted him with the 13th overall pick in 2016. He spent three seasons with them, posting 2,555 offensive snaps in 44 games.
In 2019, the Dolphins traded Tunsil to the Houston Texans. He agreed to a three-year, $66 million deal with the team in 2020 before agreeing to a three-year, $75 million extension in 2023. The offensive tackle spent six years with the Texans and recorded 4,961 offensive snaps in 81 games.
In March 2025, Laremy Tunsil was traded to the Washington Commanders. Last season, he posted 802 offensive snaps while helping the team finish third in the NFC East with a 5-12 record. This year, in March, he agreed to a two-year, $60.2 million extension before his unfortunate injury.
