Setzer Racing Driver Caps Off Breakout Season With Title and Win at South Boston

Mason Walters has officially been crowned the 2026 zMAX CARS Tour Pro Late Model champion after delivering a championship winning performance at South Boston Speedway on Saturday night. The Setzer Racing & Development driver capped off an impressive season by winning the season finale, completing a memorable championship campaign with another trip to Victory Lane.

Walters entered the final race of the season as the championship leader, holding a 13 point advantage over Conner Jones. Rather than simply protecting his lead, Walters went out and delivered when it mattered most, securing the race victory and the championship in front of the South Boston crowd.

Walters Holds Off Kaden Honeycutt

The Pro Late Model finale featured plenty of hard racing, with Walters facing pressure from Kaden Honeycutt throughout the 100 lap event.

Walters started on the pole after posting a qualifying lap of 14.718 seconds. He quickly established himself at the front of the field, but Honeycutt refused to let him pull away.

The two drivers battled side by side on multiple occasions, particularly during the closing stages of the race. Each time Honeycutt challenged for the lead, Walters found a way to respond and regain control.

The final laps delivered another intense fight for the win. Walters managed to clear Honeycutt and maintain his advantage, eventually crossing the finish line 0.978 seconds ahead of his closest competitor.

Honeycutt finished second, followed by Brody Monahan in third and Treyten Lapcevich in fourth.

The victory gave Walters another major result in a season defined by speed, consistency and strong performances under pressure.

A Breakout Championship Season

Walters’ championship represents a major milestone for the young driver and Setzer Racing & Development.

Entering the season finale, Walters had recorded two victories and nine top 10 finishes in 10 races. His consistency throughout the campaign allowed him to build a championship lead and put himself in position to control his own destiny heading into South Boston.

The title also continues the success of the No. 6 team, which won the Pro Late Model championship in 2025 with Ben Maier behind the wheel.
