Enzo Maresca has made Premier League history at Manchester City, becoming the first manager to win his opening seven league games in charge of a club.
City maintained their perfect start with Saturday’s 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town, taking their points tally to 21 in 21 possible.
Maresca’s side have also claimed wins over Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Coventry City, Manchester United, Sunderland and Liverpool during their remarkable run.
Maresca has surpassed the previous benchmark of six consecutive wins set by Pep Guardiola at City, Carlo Ancelotti at Chelsea and Ole Gunnar Solskjær at Manchester United.
City have scored 19 goals and conceded six during their opening seven league games, underlining their strength at both ends of the pitch.
When it comes to best start to a season, Chelsea set the benchmark with nine straight wins to open the 2005-06 season, while Liverpool came close in 2019-20, winning their first eight matches.
Although defeats to Arsenal in the Community Shield and Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League have interrupted their progress elsewhere, Maresca’s domestic start has put City in a strong position early in the season.
