Manchester United prepared to discuss Zirkzee loan with Juventus

Manchester United is prepared to discuss sending Joshua Zirkzee to Juventus on loan, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Zirkzee has already indicated that he would be open to the move and a return to Serie A. Manchester United has now given Juventus encouragement to begin discussing the conditions of a possible loan.

The transfer still depends on Jonathan David leaving Turin. Juventus wants to create room in its attack before bringing in another forward, leaving David’s future closely connected to any move for Zirkzee.

David joined Juventus on a free transfer from Lille in 2025 but scored only eight goals across all competitions during his first season in Italy. The Canadian previously expressed his desire to stay with Juventus, though the club is now prepared to consider his departure.

No loan formula has been agreed for Zirkzee. Juventus and Manchester United would need to decide whether the deal includes a purchase option, a conditional obligation to buy or a permanent transfer clause triggered by specific targets. Those conditions will determine whether talks progress.

Zirkzee joined Manchester United from Bologna for a fee of more than €40 million in July 2024. He has recorded nine goals and four assists across his first two seasons in England, but he has struggled to secure a regular starting position.

His contract at Old Trafford runs until June 2029, with Manchester United holding an option for another season. That gives the Premier League club control over the negotiations and reduces the pressure to accept an unfavorable loan arrangement.

Juventus has followed Zirkzee for some time. The Italian club was linked with the Dutch forward shortly after he moved to Manchester United, largely because of the form he showed during his final season with Bologna.

Zirkzee scored 12 goals and provided seven assists during the 2023/24 campaign as Bologna qualified for the Champions League. His ability to drop away from the penalty area and connect attacks made him one of the most effective forwards in Serie A.

A move to Juventus would give him another chance in the league where he played his best senior soccer. Juventus sees him as a flexible forward who can play behind a central striker or lead the attack when required.

Status: Zirkzee is open to joining Juventus, and Manchester United is prepared to discuss a loan. Juventus has not agreed a loan formula with United, and the move depends on Jonathan David leaving the Italian club.
