Manchester City have rejected enquiries from three of Europe’s biggest clubs for Ruben Dias.

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Chelsea all explored the possibility of signing the defender this summer, TEAMtalk reports.

The message from the Etihad was unequivocal. City consider Dias completely untouchable and have no intention of entertaining offers.

He is viewed as a cornerstone of the club’s new era under Enzo Maresca. Arsenal were also keeping tabs on the situation.

The Gunners, like the others, were left in no doubt that the Portugal international is not for sale at any price. His importance to the squad has only grown.

Dias has established himself as one of the world’s premier centre-backs since arriving from Benfica in 2020, winning four Premier League titles and the Champions League.

His leadership is regarded as invaluable. Some clubs sensed an opportunity after Pep Guardiola’s departure, believing the change might unsettle Dias and open the door to a move.

City moved quickly to shut down any such speculation. His contract situation reinforces their position. The 29-year-old signed fresh terms in 2025, tying him to the club until 2029.

That leaves City in complete control of his future, with no pressure to sell. Dias is seen as central to a period of transition, too.

Bernardo Silva has left for Real Madrid, John Stones has been linked with an exit, and Rodri’s future carries some uncertainty.

Losing another senior leader would only deepen that upheaval. His value has been on show at the World Cup.

Dias played the full 90 minutes as Portugal drew with Colombia, before their round-of-32 tie against Croatia, underlining his status as an elite defensive leader.
