Manchester City enter Cody Gakpo race
According to multiple sources, Manchester City have entered the race for Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo. Initial contacts have been made with his representatives, while Tottenham Hotspur also remain interested in the services of the Netherlands international and he has already agreed personal terms with the North London side.
However, Fabrizio Romano says Liverpool would only be willing to contemplate Gakpo’s departure if they achieve their own transfer goals, which consist of signing two wingers. The Paris Saint-Germain duo of Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye, as well as Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh, are on their list.
Gakpo was heavily criticized for a notable drop in form last season, but his performances have picked up under Andoni Iraola, both in pre-season and in the Premier League opener when his goal helped Liverpool earn a point away to Newcastle.
As things stand at this point, any possibility involving the future of the 27-year-old is open.
