Man United quoted £13m after initial contacts over signing 21-year-old

· · 1 min read

Manchester United have reportedly been quoted an asking price of around £13m to sign highly-rated young River Plate goalkeeper Santiago Beltran.

The Argentina international looks like a big prospect who could have a bright future at a major European club, and it seems that Man Utd have a concrete interest in securing his services.

The Red Devils recently asked about Beltran, as reported by ESPN Argentina, and translated by Sport Witness.

There’s now been a fresh update from TyC Sports as they claim United face paying just £13m for the 21-year-old, who is widely expected to leave River in the near future.

Beltran could therefore be a perfectly realistic and affordable target for MUFC as they look to build for the future.

Do Manchester United need a new goalkeeper?

United currently have Senne Lammens as their number one, and he’s performed pretty well since coming in to replace expensive flop Andre Onana.

Still, it remains to be seen if Lammens is really the best long-term option, with the club perhaps keen to bring in a top young ‘keeper who could provide some competition.

Beltran looks like he fits the bill perfectly, but one imagines he’s the kind of talent who’ll have other big clubs showing an interest in him soon.

It perhaps also seems a bit harsh for United to be thinking too much about someone to challenge Lammens just yet, so they might do well to focus on other priorities that more urgently need fixing, such as their defence.
