Bayern Munich are reportedly keeping a close watch on Phil Foden’s situation at Manchester City, with the England international emerging as a potential target if circumstances at the Etihad force major departures.
That would represent a dramatic shift only two months after Foden committed his future to City until 2030.
The 26-year-old remains one of the club’s most decorated academy graduates, but the ongoing uncertainty surrounding City’s financial case has inevitably opened the door to speculation about several leading players.
City intend to appeal the Premier League commission’s findings, while no sanction has yet been imposed.
Bayern Munich ready to move if Foden becomes available

According to TEAMtalk, Bayern Munich have identified Foden as a player they would be interested in should Manchester City become willing or forced to sell.
There has been no bid or formal approach, so the situation remains one to monitor rather than an active negotiation.
Foden’s contract makes City’s position particularly strong. He signed a new four-year deal in July that runs until 2030, with the club describing him as a central figure for the years ahead.
Man City also confirmed that he had accumulated 20 major honours by the time of the renewal.
There is also no suggestion Foden was preparing to leave before the financial verdict.
Speaking after signing the extension, he said he was excited about working under Enzo Maresca and continuing his long association with the club.
His 2025/26 campaign was mixed by his usual standards, producing 10 goals and seven assists in 50 appearances, while he was also left out of England’s World Cup squad.
Man City hold all the cards despite uncertainty

Bayern’s interest is easy to understand. Foden can operate centrally or from either flank, has extensive Champions League experience and is still entering what should be his peak years.
From City’s perspective, however, selling him would be a major sporting and symbolic decision. He joined their academy at nine and has become one of the clearest examples of the club’s development pathway.
Everything therefore depends on the eventual sanction. If City remain in the Premier League and continue competing in Europe, there is little reason to expect Foden to leave.
If relegation or another severe punishment changes the landscape, Bayern would suddenly become a much more realistic option. For now, though, their interest is contingency planning rather than the start of a transfer.
