Burnley have signed Manchester City centre-back Max Alleyne on a season-long loan deal.

The 21-year-old spent the first half of the 2025-26 season on loan with Championship side Watford before returning to City amid an injury crisis.

He featured seven times under Guardiola last season, playing in both semi-final legs of the EFL Cup against Newcastle United and in the Champions League against Bodo/Glimt.

During his time at Watford, Alleyne recorded the second-most tackles (20) among defenders at the club in league matches, won the third-most duels (72) and recorded the fourth-most clearances (76).

He will now look to help Burnley return to the Premier League, following their relegation from the top flight last term.

“I’m super excited, I can’t wait to get going,” the England Under-21 international told the club website.

“I had my first training session today and I’ve really enjoyed it so far, meeting the manager and my teammates.

“I first heard of the interest a couple of months ago now and I’m so glad it got done. It’s a huge team, a Premier League team to be honest and I’m so buzzing to be here.”

Burnley’s Championship campaign starts on Sunday as they host West Ham at Turf Moor.

Since a 1-2 defeat to Queens Park Rangers in April 2023, Burnley are unbeaten in their last 24 Championship matches at Turf Moor (W15 D9).
