Makinde orders relocation of roadside traders in Oyo

The Presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, who doubles as Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has directed all roadside traders around Agodi-Gate to vacate the area without wasting more time.

Makinde ordered that all the traders immediately vacate the area and relocate to the newly constructed shops and stalls constructed by the authorities of the Ibadan North East Local Government Area.

He added that his government has zero tolerance for street trading.

Makinde made these assertions while speaking during the commissioning of the edifice on Friday.

Makinde, while addressing the gathering, said that the traders are to use the premises free of charge.

He advised the affected traders to make wise use of the edifice.

Makinde, while speaking further, appealed to the traders to report anyone who wishes to extort them in the market.

He said that he is waging war against street trading to reduce the dangers inherent in it among the people of the state.

Makinde said, “And as for the traders who sell their wares on the roadside, your names have been properly documented and the shops will be given to you free of charge.

“Report anyone who tries to collect money from you. Move away from the road and enter the park. We have decided that we will always make provisions before prohibiting roadside trading.

“What people fail to realise is that these traders use part of their little profit to send their children to school. So, we have done this project to ease their burden.”
