It has been a very shaky start to Makai Lemon’s NFL rookie season. This was a year in which experts predicted him to be exactly what the Philadelphia Eagles have needed. Former USC Trojan Makai Lemon has fallen short of expectations. However, the NFL season is just five weeks in. A lot of time is left for him to gain ground.
Week 5 gives Lemon the great opportunity to show what type of player he is. The Eagles play the Jacksonville Jaguars, a team that can score with the best of them. Jalen Hurts will be without his two main stars, Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith. Lane Johnson is no longer on the offensive line. Hurts and the Eagles’ offense are in desperate need of someone to step up. Why not Makai Lemon?
In four games so far, Lemon has only managed to get 10 catches for 65 yards. The talent is there; where his struggles reside is a lack of confidence. This could be the game that jump-starts everything for him. His ascension will also help elevate Jalen Hurts and alleviate how ordinary he has been to start the season.
It would be a win-win for everyone involved if Makai Lemon could get going this week, and I think that will happen on Sunday. I think Lemon will lead the Eagles in receiving yards and find the end zone. It is time for him to start scratching the surface of what he can be. The Rebels desperately need a big game out of the former Trojan, and I think he will answer the bell Sunday.
