The Texas Tech softball team earned its first commitment out of the transfer portal to begin building for the 2027 season.
LSU transfer left-handed pitcher Jayden Heavener announced her commitment to the Red Raiders through social media on Saturday. Heavener will enter Texas Tech as a junior with two years of eligibility remaining.
Heavener was named a second-team freshman All-American by D1Softball during her freshman season, where she compiled a 13-5 record with a 2.75 ERA. She followed that up with a 13-9 record and a 2.81 ERA in 2026.
A native of Pace, Florida, Heavener joins the Texas Tech pitching staff highlighted by first-team NFCA All-American Kaitlyn Terry.
