LSU QB Sam Leavitt sat out practice Wednesday | Reports

BATON ROUGE – LSU football junior starting quarterback Sam Leavitt is reportedly dealing with an undisclosed upper body injury.

Leavitt was listed as “doubtful” Wednesday to play in No. 7 LSU’s rivalry clash with No. 9 Ole Miss inside Vaught-Hemingway Stadium Saturday night (6:30 p.m. CT, ABC) for Lane Kiffin‘s highly-anticipated return to Oxford, Mississippi.

Per multiple reports, Leavitt sat out LSU’s Wednesday practice.

The SEC-mandated injury report was the first of the season for the Tigers (2-0), so it was the first notion that Leavitt might be dealing with any form of injury.

Leavitt has been able to play completely through LSU’s first two games of the season, including last week’s 45-14 win over Louisiana Tech. The Tigers quarterback threw three first-half interceptions as he ended the night with three rushing scores to go along with 334 yards on 25 for 38 passing.

It’s important to note that Leavitt has not been ruled out for the matchup against Ole Miss and that his status improve through the rest of the week leading up to the game.

LSU will release injury reports Thursday and Friday night before releasing its final one 90 minutes before kickoff versus the Rebels Saturday.

Through two games in Kiffin’s offensive system, Leavitt has thrown for 574 yards, two touchdowns while rushing for five scores, which leads the team, and has four interceptions.
