Los Angeles Lakers’ Slovenia Minicamp Draws Earnest Plea From Luka Doncic’s National Teammate

Luka Doncic is in Slovenia hosting the Los Angeles Lakers minicamp this summer, and one of his compatriots hopes that the camp will end soon so Doncic can reunite with the national team. Despite being in the country, Alen Omić revealed that Doncic hasn’t been in contact with them so far.

“No, he did not speak,” Omić said via Ekipa. “He has his obligations. We leave him alone, he leaves us alone. Let him sort out what he needs to do. I hope this all ends as soon as possible, so that he can come help the national team. But we need everyone, it’s not just about him.”

“Honestly, we have reserves. We need our best player. And we all know who that is. But we have to realize that he is not there. We have to switch. It is clear that when Luka was with us on the court, for example at EuroBasket, everything was much easier. He scored 40 points, and that was it,” he added.

Slovenia are currently fourth in Group L of the ongoing World Cup qualifiers, and they’ll face France and Hungary this upcoming window. With only three teams eligible to qualify, Slovenia will need Doncic ASAP, as the Los Angeles Lakers guard is undoubtedly their best player.

Luka Doncic drew praise for his noticeably leaner physique during the Los Angeles Lakers’ minicamp, and former NBA guard Gilbert Arenas thinks that the rest of the league is in trouble this upcoming season.

“Oh, y’all in trouble. Laker Nation, that leading scorer trophy is gonna be ours. It’s gonna have our name on it,” Arenas said on his Instagram. Yes, it’s coming to the crib. Because if the fat one average 32, 33 on you, what you think the skinny one about to average? With no LeBron James?”

“See, women do that to you. That ain’t no way. He ain’t work out (like that). That’s the wife. That’s the trying to get half. That is a– stressing. Sometimes that negativity burns you for you to be successful,” he continued, citing Doncic’s ongoing legal battle with ex-fiancée Anamaria Goltes.
