Liverpool given final chance to sign €50m sensation

Liverpool already have a lot of players on their shortlist this summer.

The Anfield outfit are clearly gearing themselves up for another rebuild and, without it, there’s no way that they’d perform as well as they need to in order to try and win the Premier League title.

Of course, Andoni Iraola will want to evaluate all of the players he has at his disposal but, by the end of pre-season, he’ll need an exact idea of who he wants to keep, who he wants to sell and who he wants to sign.

However, since most other Premier League teams want similar players to the Anfield outfit, the competition for signings is tough with the market becoming more and more inflated each day.

So, it’s hardly surprising to see that they’ve now got one final chance to get a deal for one of their long-term targets over the line.

Liverpool’s right-wing is a major problem area for them at the moment.

Although some fans wanted to believe that Mohamed Salah could perform a dramatic U-turn and stay at Anfield, it doesn’t seem like that’s going to be the case.

At the moment, Federico Chiesa and Jeremie Frimpong are the Reds’ only options for their right-wing but, with Chiesa potentially on is way out of Anfield, a new right-winger is essential.

Indeed, Victor Munoz can be used there but he’s much better when used on the left.

Liverpool’s need for a new right-sided forward has been made clear for some time now but, as per a fresh update from A Bola, the Reds may only have until the end of the week to get a deal for one of their reported targets over the line.

“Al Ahli’s pursuit of Francisco Trincão continues,” they wrote.

“But the Saudis are trying to get Sporting to accept a deal below their asking price of €50 million.

“Sporting, naturally, maintain their expectation of selling the player for between €50 and €60 million, so much so that they rejected the first approach from the Saudi club, which, even without a formal offer, put €45 million on the table.

“Negotiations continue, albeit at a slower pace than Atlético Madrid’s for Morten Hjulmand, and are expected to be tough, because while Sporting have a well-defined price, Al Ahli, whose sporting director is the Portuguese Rui Pedro Braz, want to lower it.

“And their interest in the 27-year-old forward is genuine, even after signing attacking midfielder Spertsyan from Krasnodar for €22 million.”

Even though Iraola uses a similar system to Jurgen Klopp and Arne Slot, there are some subtle differences between each one.

Iraola seems to want forwards who can break the last line of defence and drift out wide if needed, much like Eli Junior Kroupi did throughout the 2025-26 campaign.

Someone such as Hugo Ekitike would be perfect for this and Alexander Isak would be even better.

However, on the wings, he likes his attackers to be able to create goals as well as score them.

Trincao would be perfect for this as, last season alone he scored 13 and assisted his teammates on 18 separate occasions.

The Portugal international is also left-footed so, in terms of Salah replacements, he’s close to perfect.

So, with all of this in mind, if Liverpool want to get a deal for the 26-year-old over the line, they need to get themselves into gear and enter the race before it’s too late.
