Liverpool Change Kickoff Time for Final Set of Pre-Season Friendlies

Liverpool will wrap their 2026 pre-season under new head coach Andoni Iraola on Sunday, with most of the focus on the second friendly against Como set to be played at Anfield at 6PM and expected to contain most of the first team players in the mix for the following weekend’s Premier League opener against Newcastle.

However, the club today have announced a shift to the kickoff of the first game of the day, with the earlier game behind closed doors at La AXA training centre pulled up to an 11:30AM kickoff. That match, also against Como, is expected to feature mostly second string squads for both Iraola and Como manager Cesc Fàbregas‘ sides.

That first game will be played without fans and may be a last chance for some of the club’s youth and fringe players to impress Iraola before the season starts—though with them likely to be facing Como players in a similar situation, the quality of competition will obviously be reduced and impressing may not mean as much.

While there will be no fans and any pomp and ceremony (for pre-season values thereof) will be saved for the 6PM kickoff at Anfield between the two sides, the earlier friendly/training session will still be broadcast on LFCTV for those truly intent on reading every possible tea leaf ahead of the start of the 2026-27 season.
