Liverpool and PSG reach agreement on Bradley Barcola transfer

David Ornstein of The Athletic and The Times duo of Martyn Ziegler and Paul Joyce almost simultaneously reported that Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain have reached an agreement in principle over the proposed transfer of Bradley Barcola. The story has since been confirmed by every respectable source.

The France international, who will turn 24 next week, has been Liverpool’s main target to strengthen their wide attacking ranks since Yan Diomande chose to join Real Madrid. The Merseysiders have reportedly beaten off Arsenal in the race for his signature.

PSG initially demanded £145 million for his services, despite the fact that he has two years left on his contract and had informed the club he would not sign a new deal. But as the Champions League holders signed Ferran Torres from Barcelona and Mika Godts from Ajax and the end of the transfer window drew closer, it was expected that they would eventually lower their demands. The agreement now stands at a total of £120 million, of which just over £100 million is guaranteed.

Liverpool reportedly want to sign yet another winger after Barcola, and these plans, if realized, could have a knock-on effect on the future if Cody Gakpo, who is wanted by both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.
