The House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the alleged operation of the disputed Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council has resumed its probe, with the sitting now underway.
The committee is expecting the appearance of the self-acclaimed Director-General of the purported council, Mr. Adeniyi Adeyemi.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, had earlier appeared in compliance with the committee’s summons following her earlier invitation for her final statements.
Also present are Deputy Commissioner of Police Olufemi Akinola and Assistant Commissioner of Police Bashir Abdullahi, who are representing the Inspector-General of Police.
However, Mr. Adeyemi is yet to appear before the committee.
The committee had described the establishment and operation of the purported council as a serious breach and directed the Inspector-General of Police to produce Mr. Adeniyi Adeyemi within 48 hours.
The lawmakers said his appearance is expected to clarify how the council obtained official recognition and processed government correspondence as the investigation continues.
