New York Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns is playing like a man on a mission in the NBA Finals. He’s talking like one too.
Lip-readers caught Towns delivering a NSFW taunt to the spurs/24/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">San Antonio Spurs while he walked back to the locker room for halftime. Towns appeared to tell the Spurs, “Y’all can’t (expletive) with me,” and he wasn’t wrong.
Towns had 17 points, seven rebounds and three assists in the first half. His contributions helped New York take a lead into halftime despite trailing by double digits early in the second quarter. The 30-year-old finished with 21 points and made life difficult defensively on Victor Wembanyama.
It’s been a thoroughly impressive series thus far from Towns, who played with unwavering confidence in Game 1 because he felt his late mother in the stands. Now, Towns is two wins away from making her proud with his first career Larry O’Brien Trophy.
The series shifts back to what will be a raucous New York for Games 3 and 4.
