The NFL’s Week 3 is starting up, but for a handful of players, today brought news about punishment from the NFL. The Detroit Lions got hit hard with NFL discipline going into the fresh week, and now, one player is fighting back.

Every Saturday, the NFL disciplines players for breaking the league’s rules during the games the week before. According to the NFL’s official website, the league “uses the fine schedule to outline the league’s and the union’s expectations for players to conduct themselves in a way that honors the sport and respects the game, themselves, their fellow players, the fans and the league.”

On Saturday, Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown was slapped with not one, not two, not even three fines. He got four fines, all for one game. The reasons were “illegal celebration” and “unsportsmanlike conduct.”

Now, St. Brown will have to fork over almost $60,000 to the NFL for his celebrations during Detroit’s loss to the Buffalo Bills. Specifically, St. Brown was fined four times at $14,926 each.

But St. Brown isn’t going to take it sitting down. He’s going to fight it.

“It’s not good, man. 14 something times four, you do the math,” St. Brown said Thursday, according to Nolan Bianchi of the Detroit News and Bleacher Report. “But I’m going to appeal it.”

If he doesn’t win his appeal, the fines will go to a good cause. The fines go to the Professional Athletes Foundation “to support Legends in need and the NFL Foundation to further support the health, safety and wellness of athletes across all levels, including youth football and the communities that support the game,” according to the NFL.
