LEGO Lord Of The Rings New 8,000-Piece Set Is The One We've Been Waiting For

LEGO has collaborated with some of the most iconic franchises over the years, including Harry Potter, Star Wars, Marvel, Super Mario, and more. Now, it is time for LEGO to team up with The Lord of the Rings’ universe once more, after its first official set burst onto the scene way back in 2012.

Since relaunching with major display and collector sets, a brand-new LEGO set dedicated to The Lord of the Rings has officially been announced, and fans will be pleased to hear that the 8,000-piece set will depict the iconic location of Helm’s Deep.

After discontinuing its LOTR-inspired sets back in 2014, the decade-long hiatus ended when LEGO launched the LEGO Icons Rivendell set in 2023, with the aim of targeting an older audience. Now, three years on, and it seems as though another set is just around the corner after first being leaked over on r/Legoleak.

In the post, we can see the LEGO Lord of the Rings Helm’s Deep set, and according to the user, it will mark the next entry in LEGO’s Lord of the Rings Icons wave following the release of the Minas Tirith set which went live back in June of this year. The Reddit user also reveals that the 2027 set will feature 8,060 pieces and will arrive in June, although a price tag has not yet been unveiled. That being said, if we take into account the price of the Minas Tirith set, and other LEGO sets of this size, we can expect the Lord of the Rings Helm’s Deep set to cost upwards of $600, so it will be quite the investment.

Although we can expect this LEGO set to be an incredibly-detailed version of Helm’s Deep, it has also not been announced which miniatures will launch alongside the architecture. What we do know, if the rumors are to be believed, is that this upcoming release could be the second-largest Lord of the Rings-inspired LEGO set on the market, with Minas Tirith being the largest with an extra 218 pieces.

Whilst the LEGO Lord of the Rings Helm’s Deep set has not yet been officially announced by LEGO, and any rumors should be taken with a pinch of salt unless proven otherwise, it has not stopped fans from taking to Reddit to share their thoughts on the leak.

“Lord of the Rings sets so big and GOAT-ed, it’s creating space issues at my house,” one user shared. Another agreed, adding, “I’ve gotten all the large LOTR set to date. I’m out of space though, and I just don’t have the budget to spring for these high piece counts anymore. I can’t be the only one and have to wonder if this era of LEGO with ginormous collectors’ sets is going to peter out before 2030.”

On the other hand, it seems as though some users are feeling hopeful about this next big LEGO set, with one user sharing, “I unironically want a bunch of technical internals where, if you turn a crank on the back of the set, those giant ladders get raised up and onto the parapet, full of orcs. An iconic shot from the movie. They’ll definitely have a normal/destroyed wall section too, so that might add some pieces from the doubling up.”

For now, we can only hope that the LEGO Lord of the Rings Helm’s Deep set is indeed in production and, by this time next year, we will be clearing out a big space to display yet another addition to our ever-growing collection.

The Lord of the Rings is a multimedia franchise consisting of several movies and a TV show released by Amazon titled The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The franchise is based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s book series that began in 1954 with The Fellowship of the Ring. The Lord of the Rings saw mainstream popularity with Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies.
