Leeds star set to miss start of Premier League season in blow for boss Farke

Leeds United boss Daniel Farke has revealed that Gabriel Gudmundsson is expected to miss the start of the Premier League season.

Gudmundsson suffered the setback during the pre-season win over Liverpool last week, and speaking after Leeds‘ 2-0 friendly win over RB Leipzig, Farke said: “Bad news with Gabi, a muscle injury.

“Obviously he had a difficult summer anyway because he was just injured before the World Cup and got fit for the World Cup but came back later and right now it’s a muscle injury.”

“The initial assessment is probably that it could be that he misses the start of the Premier League season,” he added.

“At the moment it is too early to speak overall about his injury, four weeks.

“The first week is right now so nearly done but it could easily be that he misses the first game or the first two games.”

Goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha gave Leeds a 2-0 win over RB Leipzig at Elland Road.
