There isn’t going to be a televised show called “The Decision.” Who would do that?

But LeBron James is taking his talents somewhere other than the Los Angeles Lakers for the 2026-27 NBA season.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on Tuesday that James has let the Lakers know they can move on without him:

This has now opened the door to every team ever linked to James.

The Golden State Warriors are winning the rumor mill right now. Reports have indicated LeBron would want Anthony Davis to come there if he does, which would be the tougher half of pulling that off. But a combination of James and Stephen Curry is certainly intriguing.

The Cleveland Cavaliers remain in the picture as LeBron’s hometown team. Would he go back home a second time?

The San Antonio Spurs were recently floated by Bill Simmons as the most “fun” possibility. LeBron and Wemby? If James would consider it, that would be awesome.

Charania’s report doesn’t indicate if LeBron has any leaning, but apparently the Lakers were far enough down the wish list that he was comfortable dismissing them at this point.

James did win a championship in L.A., but now he leaves the team in the hands of Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves.

The crown is on the move. Its next kingdom isn’t clear.
