Even with the Golden State Warriors keeping a hold of Kristaps Porzingis, the possibility of the Dubs landing both LeBron James and Anthony Davis hasn’t been ruled out.

Kristaps Porzingis signed a two-year, $40 million contract with the Golden State Warriors, thus complicating their salary cap compliance in the pursuit of landing LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

However, it appears the Dubs still have a chance to land both players, but they will have to meet some strict conditions to make it happen.

How Golden State Warriors can still land LeBron James and Anthony Davis

According to ESPN expert Bobby Marks, the Warriors still have a chance to bring both LeBron James and Anthony Davis to the team this season.

While Porzingis’ $40 million contract certainly complicates things, the Warriors do have some workarounds to land the championship duo.

One of the key things here is the future of Draymond Green. Green rejected his $28 million player option to try to secure a better deal with the team.

If Draymond takes an $8 million pay cut and signs for the same amount of money that Porzingis did ($40 million across two years), it would alleviate a lot of the financial issues the Warriors face.

But the hard work doesn’t stop there, as the Warriors also need to find a team to take Moses Moody off the books if the Wizards reject his inclusion in a package for Anthony Davis.

If all these things can happen, the Warriors can try to convince LeBron James to sign a 1+1 deal worth $15 million per year, slotting him in their non-taxpayer mid-level exception.

Anthony Davis to Warriors trade isn’t crucial for LeBron James signing

There was reporting earlier in the week that LeBron James wouldn’t consider signing with the Warriors if they don’t trade for Anthony Davis.

However, according to Jake Fischer via the Stein Line, the Warriors are not under the impression that James and Davis are a package deal.

While the Warriors are still trying to land Anthony Davis, they do believe they can still convince LeBron James to sign with them.

This saga is shaping up to be one of the most exciting free agency stories since 2019, and it could end the same way it did back then – LeBron James and Anthony Davis as teammates.
