LASU probes lecturers for failure to upload results, delayed in graduation controversy
LAGOS, Nigeria – The management of Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, has launched an internal investigation into severe allegations involving academic staff accused of failing to upload students’ examination marks.
The administrative lapse has reportedly prevented scores of final-year students from graduating and threatens over 1,000 undergraduates across multiple academic levels with extra study years.
The institutional probe follows widespread public outcry after claims emerged online that over 100 students were excluded from the university’s recent convocation ceremonies because a lecturer allegedly failed to enter course results dating as far back as their 300-level session.
Amplified Claims and Intimidation Allegations
The academic controversy gained significant traction after an X user, @TheAjakeManger, highlighted the crisis and appealed directly to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The user alleged that the problem extends well beyond the graduating cohort and involves current 200, 300, and 400-level students within the affected department.
Management Acknowledgment and Student Union Intervention
Reacting to the public outcry, the management of Lagos State University issued an official statement acknowledging the complaints and confirming that an administrative inquiry had commenced to determine lecturer culpability and rectify portal records.
Simultaneously, the national leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), led by President Akinteye Babatunde, alongside the Joint Campus Committee (JCC), Lagos Axis, initiated direct engagements with university principal officers.
Urging calm across the student body, NANS leadership assured affected undergraduates that university management committed to resolving the results debacle and updating affected student portals within the coming week.
