The overall best graduating student of Lagos State University (LASU) for the 2025/2026 academic session, Adebanjo Samuel Oluolamide, has been rewarded with a N10 million cash prize for his outstanding academic performance.
Oluolamide, a graduate of the Department of Aerospace Engineering, emerged as the university’s overall best graduating student after recording an impressive Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.97 and graduating with First Class Honours.
The cash prize was presented to him by the Sunbeth Excellence Partnership Programme (SEPP) during LASU’s 29th and 30th combined convocation ceremony held on Monday at the Olatunji Bello Auditorium, Epe Campus.
The award recognises Oluolamide’s exceptional academic performance and forms part of SEPP’s efforts to promote academic excellence and encourage innovation among students of the university.
His achievement came as LASU celebrated thousands of graduands across the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic sessions.
For the 2025/2026 session alone, Oluolamide emerged ahead of other high-performing students to claim the overall best graduating student position with his 4.97 CGPA.
The university had earlier disclosed that 8,653 students graduated from its first-degree programmes during the 2025/2026 academic session, with 232 students achieving First Class Honours.
Oluolamide’s recognition and the N10 million prize have further highlighted the importance of academic excellence and the role of institutional and corporate partnerships in rewarding outstanding students.
The development is also expected to serve as an inspiration to other students to pursue academic excellence, innovation and personal development.
LASU’s combined convocation ceremonies, which commenced on August 17, will feature the conferment of first degrees, postgraduate diplomas, master’s degrees and doctoral degrees on deserving graduands from the two academic sessions.
The university is also recognising distinguished personalities with honorary doctorate degrees as part of activities marking the combined convocation.
