Lakers have officially signed Quentin Grimes, Sandro Mamukelashvili

With the NBA’s annual free agent moratorium period now over, the Los Angeles Lakers are starting to get down to the business of officially completing the moves they recently agreed to make.

The trade in which they agreed to send out center Deandre Ayton, who started for them this past season, to the Washington Wizards for guard Jaden Hardy and two second-round draft picks is now done. They also officially signed guard Quentin Grimes and big man Sandro Mamukelashvili to the deals both players agreed to last Wednesday.

Grimes reportedly agreed to a four-year, $60 million contract and Mamukelashvili agreed to $52 million over four years.

Grimes will wear jersey No. 5 and Mamukelashvili will don jersey No. 54 for the Purple and Gold.

The Lakers have lacked legitimate two-way wings for the last few years, and Grimes will help fill that need. He’s a relatively athletic 6-foot-5 guard who can score off the dribble and is a solid defender against opposing guards. His 3-point shooting has been up and down from year to year, but he has always been a laser from the corners.

This past season, Grimes, who turned 26 years of age in May, averaged 13.4 points a game on 45% overall shooting and 33.4% 3-point shooting as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers. He has a career accuracy of 36.6% from 3-point range, and according to basketball-reference.com, he has made 44.5% of his corner 3-point attempts through his five-year NBA career.

Mamukelashvili is a 6-foot-9, 240-pound, 27-year-old hybrid 4/5 who started to blossom this past season with the Toronto Raptors. He averaged 11.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 21.9 minutes a game and shot 52.3% from the field and 38.9% from downtown during the 2025-26 campaign. He’s a relatively fluid big man who can work off the dribble, both in transition and half-court situations, and he can make proper passes to continue and optimize offensive sequences.
