The Los Angeles Lakers have done a remarkable job thus far of accommodating their superstar point guard Luka Doncic.

The Lakers’ decision to anoint Mark Walter, who’s already secured three World Series victories with the Dodgers, as their majority owner should pay off in due time.

Additionally, taking Doncic’s Marcus Smart 2025 offseason suggestion seriously allowed the Lakers to show the six-time All-Star they’re serious about making his life in Los Angeles as comfortable as possible.

Based on a recent report by NBA reporter Scoop B. Robinson, the Lakers could take things a step further by reuniting Doncic with his former Dallas Mavericks nine-time All-Star teammate this summer.

Detroit Pistons are also a realistic suitor of Kyrie Irving,” Robinson wrote on X/Twitter Monday. “So too are the (Minnesota) Timberwolves, (Houston) Rockets, and Lakers.”

Doncic and Irving have already proven they can make a two-ball-dominant guard lineup work, as they were key contributors on the 2023-24 Mavericks squad that made a surprising run to the NBA Finals. The dynamic duo averaged 28.9 points and 22.1 points, respectively, during that year’s postseason, which seemed to be a clear sign of what was to come in Dallas.

In a shocking turn of events, though, the Mavericks retained Irving while sending Doncic to the Lakers midway through last season. Injuries have been a primary cause for concern for Irving since Doncic’s departure, as the NBA champion guard missed the final 20 games of the last season and all of this season due to an ACL injury.

Could the Lakers look past Irving’s health issues and their ultimate search for a three-and-D wing and/or high-level frontcourt to add the 34-year-old to the fold this summer? Robinson’s report suggests it’s feasible.
