Lakers agree to draft swap, will receive rights to Cameron Carr

On Monday night, two trades were consummated in the NBA, including one that will send two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks to the Miami Heat. Some fans are very disappointed that Antetokounmpo, who has been linked to the Lakers at times over the last several months, isn’t heading to the Purple and Gold.

But on Tuesday during the NBA draft, Los Angeles did pull off a trade of its own. It agreed to send its No. 25 pick, which it used on Sergio De Larrea, to the New York Knicks for the rights to Cameron Carr, whom New York took at No. 24.

Carr, a 6-foot-5 guard, spent the first two years of his college basketball career at the University of Tennessee, and he transferred to Baylor University for this past season. He blossomed with the Bears and averaged 18.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.3 blocks a game while shooting 49.4% overall and 37.4% from 3-point range during the 2025-26 campaign.

He is an impressive physical specimen, as he has an insane 7-foot-1 wingspan and a 42-inch vertical leap. He can finish strong at the rim and is an excellent outside shooting threat, and he also has the tools to become a terrific defender in the NBA.
