Ladd McConkey injury update: Chargers WR misses Wednesday practice
Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey will not practice Wednesday as he continues to recover from a rib injury he suffered in the team’s Week 1 loss, head coach Jim Harbaugh said.
Harbaugh previously categorized McConkey as day-to-day, but his absence from the week’s opening session calls his status for Sunday’s matchup against the Raiders into question.
The injury occurred during the third quarter of Sunday’s 26-14 defeat against the Cardinals when McConkey took a hard hit over the middle of the field. Before his exit, he was the focal point of the passing attack, leading the team with five receptions for 82 yards and a touchdown.
In response to a depleted receiving corps, which also saw KeAndre Lambert-Smith placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, the Chargers signed veteran wideout Marquez Valdes-Scantling to their practice squad.
