Kyler Murray ruled out due to concussion

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Vikings QB Kyler Murray (concussion) has been ruled out for the remainder of the Week 1 game against the Green Bay Packers due to a concussion.

In the first quarter, on a scramble to the right, Murray took helmet-to-helmet contact from safety Javon Bullard, who was whistled for a 15-yard penalty. Murray was down for a while before he was eventually able to walk off under his own power to the locker room for evaluation. He was ruled out shortly thereafter.

Journeyman veteran Carson Wentz has taken over under center for the Vikings, while JJ McCarthy, last season’s starter, is serving as the No. 3 emergency quarterback, should anything happen to Wentz.

Huddle Up: Murray’s debut certainly didn’t last long, but it was through no fault of his own. That was a dirty hit. It’s unfortunate, as he was looking for a new start in the Twin Cities. Now, his resurrection will have to wait a while until he clears concussion protocol. Wentz isn’t worth bothering with in fantasy football as long as he is in there.
