The NBA Finals will return to Madison Square Garden for the first time in nearly three decades when the Knicks host the Spurs on Monday night.

New York will bring a 2-0 lead and 13-game winning streak into Game 3 of the championship series. The Knicks are ready to play in front of one of the most electric crowds in recent memory and take another step toward the Larry O’Brien Trophy.

However, New York knows that the series is far from over. San Antonio had opportunities to take control in Games 1 and 2, and Victor Wembanyama will be highly motivated to deliver a signature performance after missing a potential game-winning shot in the previous battle.

11:27 p.m.: At the line, Castle makes both free throws to put the Spurs up four with 6.8 seconds remaining.

Castle has 23 points on the night.

11:25 p.m.: Anunoby gets the inbound then makes a three from the corner, and just like that it’s a two-point game with 9.4 seconds remaining.

Do the Knicks have a miracle in them?

11:23 p.m.: De’Aaron Fox might have just put this game on ice.

On Anunoby and Towns right behind him, Fox nails a shot from the elbow to give the Spurs a five-point lead with less than 20 seconds remaining.

San Antonio is within distance of its first 2026 NBA Finals win.

11:22 p.m.: As the clock ticks under a minute, the Spurs are up six.

The Knicks have the ball with 35 left, and Brunson hits a triple to cut the lead in half.

11:19 p.m.: The shot clock was expiring, but Castle hits a three pointer at the buzzer to give San Antonio a seven-point lead.

After a Bridges miss, the Spurs are able to slow it down.

11:15 p.m.: The Knicks desperately need something, and they get it through Brunson, who hits the first of two free throws

But, New York still trails by seven with 3:40 remaining. Brunson will shoot one more out of the timeout.

11:09 p.m.: With under five minutes remaining, the Spurs lead by eight.

New York has only nine points this quarter.

11:05 p.m.: After Towns misses a three, Brunson gets the offensive rebound, making the basket with the foul. It’s a four-point game after he makes the free throw.

10:56 p.m.: Wembanyama’s three pointer has been waved off the board, and on the other end, Brunson makes a layup.

What looked like a 10-point game is now only five, and the Knicks aren’t done yet.

10:49 p.m.: San Antonio has come out playing lockdown defense, and three minutes in New York is scoreless.

A Johnson layup has the Spurs up seven, with Brunson back in the game.

End of the third quarter: Spurs 92, Knicks 91

10:38 p.m.: At the end of three, it looks like we’ll have another game come down to the wire.

Jordan Clarkson hits a miracle three to tie the game, but Harper strikes right back, and the Spurs lead 92-91.

The next 12 minutes will change the series, regardless of how it goes.

10:36 p.m.: Champagnie played his college basketball at Madison Square Garden with St. John’s, and he’s no stranger to the big stage.

He hits his third three of the game to put the Spurs up five.

10:32 p.m.: As the third winds down, the teams continue to go back-and-forth, with the Spurs leading 84-81.

Both Brunson and Wembanyama are out of the game right now.

10:25 p.m.: San Antonio has the lead, with Wembanyama cashing a deep three to put the Spurs up.

Then, on the other end, Mitchell Robinson gets two of his own to cut the lead to one.

10:24 p.m.: The Spurs need contributions from the bench, and Keldon Johnson gives them a basket here to tie up the game.

With 5:20 remaining it’s all square at 76.

10:18 p.m.: Right after San Antonio takes the lead, Anunoby makes a three and is 7-of-8 from the field.

10:15 p.m.: Brunson drives on Castle then gets stopped by Fox on the elbow, but makes a circus shot while drawing the foul.

He hits the free throw to give New York a 71-67 lead. Brunson is up to 20 on the night.

10:09 p.m.: Champagnie nails a three and gets fouled by Brunson, and after a review its a flagrant foul.

He then makes the free throw too to get the Spurs within one.

10:06 p.m.: The second half is underway.

Will it be the Knicks who take a 3-0 lead or will the Spurs come back and win?

9:49 p.m.: The Knicks close out the first half on a 10-1 run and take a seven-point lead into the locker rooms.

It’s a 19-point turnaround after trailing by as much as 12, and now, the Knicks are a half away from going up 3-0. Anunoby leads the way with 17, with Brunson right behind him with 15.

San Antonio needs a response in the second half or it will find itself in an insurmountable hole.

9:46 p.m.: Hart is now 3-for-4 from deep, with 13 points after having just three in the first two games. His triple gives the Knicks the lead.

Then, Brunson makes a three of his own and the Knicks have their largest lead of the night, leading 62-57.

9:43 p.m.: Hart is up to 10 points, making a layup on Castle to tie the game. Then, on the other end, Fox hits a tough fadeaway to give San Antonio the lead back.

9:38 p.m.: The Knicks have a lead, with Brunson hitting a three, but it’s short-lived with Champagnie making one of his own on the other end.

9:33 p.m.: The Spurs find themselves ahead courtesy of Castle. He gets another tough bucket to go and is up to 18 points, with San Antonio up five.

9:32 p.m.: With the Knicks inching closer, the Spurs get a much-needed bucket from Castle.

After a Clarkson turnover, Castle gets fouled by Towns and makes the basket. He makes the free throw and is up to 16 on the night already.

It’s 45-40 San Antonio with 5:53 left in the half.

9:24 p.m.: The Knicks defense has come alive, and with it they within two. 

Towns hits a tough two, then after a steal Anunoby is wide open for a triple, and just like that, a 8-0 run in 1:21 has the game at 40-38 San Antonio.

9:21 p.m.: After Anunoby makes three free throws to get the Knicks within single digits, Castle gets to the line on the other end.

He hits both to put the Spurs up 38-27.

End of the first quarter: Spurs 33, Knicks 22

9:13 p.m.: At the end of one, it’s the road team Spurs who are ahead.

San Antonio has come out scorching hot, shooting 14-for-23 from the field to take a double digit lead after 12 minutes. The Spurs have led by double digits in every game so far.

9:09 p.m.: San Antonio leads by 11, its largest of the night.

Rookie Dylan Harper has been great through two games, and he gets on the board with a slam on Anunoby.

9:02 p.m.: New York is clawing back, making it a seven-point game and it’s getting chippy early on.

It’s 24-17 Spurs.

9:00 p.m.: At the 4:35 mark, San Antonio leads by 11.

There was a questionable bump on Brunson by Wembanyama, but no call.

8:54 p.m.: At the first commercial break, it’s San Antonio who is out to a double digit lead.

The Spurs have started hot in all three games, but have faded down the stretch. So far, Wembanyama and co. have been the better team.

8:51 p.m.: The Spurs are 6-for-8 to begin the game and hold a nine-point lead. But, Brunson is going to the line to shoot his first two free throws of the night.

8:48 p.m.: Brunson has his first points, getting a basket to go on Castle to make it 9-5 San Antonio.

Brunson high-arced it over Wembanyama and banked it in.

8:47 p.m.: Wembanyama has dominated the early game, with two dunks and a block on Bridges.

Devin Vassell hits a three and the Spurs are up 7-0 to start. The Knicks get their first points of the night via Hart, who drills a three of his own.

8:46 p.m.: Wembanyama has the first points of the game, stuffing a lob from Fox to make it 2-0. New York is yet to score, with two turnovers already.

8:44 p.m.: The NBA Finals is underway from Madison Square Garden.

Wembanyama wins the tipoff and San Antonio has the first possession.

8:40 p.m.: The New York Knicks have been introduced to the raucous Madison Square Garden.

Tipoff in Game 3 is minutes away.

8:30 p.m.: It’s time for the NBA Finals.

The Knicks took the first two games down in San Antonio and now return to the World’s Most Famous Arena. With Brunson, Towns, Bridges and more, this team looks primed to end the 53 years of waiting for a city so starved for a championship.

Brunson had 30 points in the Knicks Game 1 win, and though he only had 20 in Game 2 had the game-winning free throw with only seconds left. Wembanyama has had 26 and 29, but it has not been enough for San Antonio.
