Knicks’ Karl-Anthony Towns gets honest on earning ‘respect’ in New York

Speaking to the media, the veteran center addressed the realities of playing under the bright lights of The Big Apple. He shared his candid thoughts on the Knicks faithful and what it meant to him as a player.

According to Towns, playing for the Knicks is not about the money. He pointed out that the respect of the fans is priceless.

“The greatest currency you can earn in New York City is not money, but it’s respect,” Towns said on Sunday. “To have the respect of the fans in the city, we are rich beyond belief here in the city.” 

Karl-Anthony Towns and the Knicks are gearing up for the Finals

The Knicks are deep in preparation to face the San Antonio Spurs in the upcoming NBA Finals. Towns has altered his game under New York head coach Mike Brown, operating frequently as an elite passing big. He has shown that he can play as a decoy and setup his teammates for easy baskets.

Game 1 is scheduled on Wednesday at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio. New York will host Games 3, 4 and 6, and its fans are expected to be loud in cheering their team on.
