Bayern Munich completed the contract extension of board member for sport Maximilian Eberl in the last week of August. Along with Christian Freund and Jan Christian Dreesen, he plays an important role in leading sporting direction and ensuring the best possible environment for the team to succeed in. Manager Vincent Kompany highlighted his bond with Eberl and the support received from him in difficult moments.
“I won’t talk much about my bosses’ contracts. I’m always honest about our collaboration. In difficult moments, we always focus on our work and provide support where it’s needed. My work environment is the most important thing; I’m very lucky because my work environment with Max and Christoph is excellent,” said Vincent Kompany before the game against VfB Stuttgart( as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
After a shaky start Eberl really found his groove in Munich. He dealt with some difficult periods when Bayern was being rejected by coaches and players alike. The signing of Vincent Kompany and a 28 year-old Luis Diaz after missing out one of Germany’s biggest talents in Florian Wirtz have really paid off with time. The Bavarians are back to where they belong, at the echelons of football and as a club that is appealing to the very best talents on the planet.
Although his tenure hasn’t been perfect such as with the handling of Thomas Müller’s exit, the fact that he has along with other key members forged a wonderful environment for the team as a whole is commendable. The supervisory board have taken due note and through his extension offered stability and continuity for another three years.
