Kentucky women's soccer debuts with dominant victory
Fall sports are officially here, and the Kentucky Wildcats women’s soccer team made their season debut this week, and opened things up with a dominant victory over Detroit Mercy. Nadia Ramadan scored two goals to lead the way to a 6-0 win.
Kentucky started the scoring right away with a Lexi Tylenda goal to jump out to a lead. Ramadan drilled two penalty kicks in the first half as well, and Kyla Dawn scored as well off a nice pass by Juliette Rayo, making it 4-0 at the half.
Rayo got a goal of her own in the second half to make it 5-0. Then Dani Chaump finished off the scoring with a goal in the 85th minute of the match and wrapping up the 6-0 win.
The Wildcats played well offensively, but were even better on the defensive side. Detroit Mercy only managed to get one shot on goal the entire match, which was stopped by goalkeeper Megan Holland. Overall, Kentucky overwhelmed the opponent with 13 shots on goal to just 1.
The Wildcats next match will be on Aug. 16, against Kent State. That will begin at 1:00 P.M. and can be watched on SEC Network Plus.
